With “Accretion” and “Fragment”, two parts of an interstellar trilogy were released in 2018 that illuminated the dark electronic galaxy of Project Pitchfork like nothing before. After a long silence, the final act of this cosmic electro symphony will finally follow in spring 2024 with “Elysium”. And every second of the wait was worth it: “Elysium” is nothing less than the music of the stars, brought to earth and translated into colossal dark electro cathedrals.
If the final act of this trilogy promises the crossing to the island of the blessed in the title alone, then the road there is at least a rocky one. Project Pitchfork sound scarred on this album, visibly taken by what we have all had to endure over the last five years. But that doesn’t make it any less urgent, no less captivating. On the contrary: it seems as if Peter Spilles has turned the biggest crisis into the most powerful weapon – and channelled everything that plagued him into “Elysium”. Catharsis in electronic form, a powerful, monumental manifesto that effortlessly transcends time and space.
